Dear 2024 me,

I hope you are happy.
And by that, I mean I hope there’s joy in your life. I hope there’s peace. I hope you have people you love, who love you.

I hope you found whatever it is that you’re looking for.
Know that you’re not going to find it
scrolling on tiktok till 3 am.
You already know the answers.

You’ll need a pen, a bottle of ink, lots of paper, and a good measure of sleep.
Sleep because you’ll need to be awake enough to scribble, to check in, and to actually visit divinity.

From what I’ve learned,
life is a paradox.
You’re never going to miss what’s meant for you because it will always be there.
Which means you can’t ever mess this up.
And yet, you can.
And sometimes messy is part of the plan.
It’s ineffable.

We won’t always know.

I do know you’re always seeking permission, so here it is:
I give you my permission.
One one-year pass
to be brave and beautiful
to let go and accept
to find your joy because no one has the right answer.

No one can tell you how to heal or how to live your life.

Remember how it feels when you’ve spent your day working – long and hard – at something you love.
When you go to bed tired and smiling.
Do that.

Try. Dream. Dare.
Be afraid and do it anyway.
Put yourself out there.
We can try and fail and learn something.
Or don’t.
The year will pass.
Then, it will be 2024 and I
will be whispering the same thing.

.

Went on a me date today.

Got myself a bottle of ink and a journal that absolutely terrifies me.

(It’s paged 1 to 31, and you come back to the same date/page every month and see what you’ve done.

I like it better when time is linear and I don’t see all the time I’ve wasted.)

Got sushi. Too much sushi. 😊

And then I had some fun dancing in the changing room in H&M, trying out clothes and pretending to be a model.

Spotted a bouquet of flowers and wondered if I should get them.

Next time, no thinking.

I will.
