Hoppy Lunar New Year

It’s Monday, just a little after 7 am, on the second day of the lunar new year, and I’m up, typing a sunrise post.

I’m glad to be awake at sunrise again.

It’s a new year, doubly so following the sun and the moon, and I’m:

  • In the latest SuperPlatChallenge batch (officially. The previous round I was just in the activities, now I’m an actual participant with tracked tasks to complete);
  • In the core marketing team for a condominium — a new launch in Buona Vista — called Blossoms by the Park, opening next month in February;
  • Creating websites for my team;
  • Working as telemarketer; and
  • Ghostwriting a book.

I have so much I’ve signed up for, and it’s going to come down to making sure I’m doing the right thing at the right time.

Oh I’ve also gone on a trip to Cambodia, with the team, and we learned about the developments that are happening there, plus a massive mixed commercial-residential-art hub-entrepreneurial space-event zone called Urban Village — where more homes are being built and sold, and those who have bought units see their wealth increasing by more than 20% (capital appreciation and rental yield).

Urban Village is in Phnom Penh, the capital, on two main streets that are akin to Singapore’s Orchard Road, and the prices start from USD 80,000 for a 1-bedroom apartment.

For those with the spare cash, and a timeline of 3 to 5 years, this is a chance to grow with a developing real estate market.

There’s risk and reward, which is why I’m using the words “spare cash”. And adding the fact that the developer is so confident in the results and the growth, that they’re putting their money where their mouth is and guaranteeing rental for 2 years.

My team and I had a tour of the area, visiting the largest mall and a factory so large the government has a labour branch inside the compound (they even have their own hospital, and they make clothes for Zara, A&F, Uniqlo, and so much more), checked out the lifestyle and food (amazing), and then explored Urban Village with all that context.

If property in Singapore is too expensive, if investing is no longer within reach, then Cambodia holds serious potential.

I should probably do separate posts for everything, and soon while it’s still fresh on my mind.

For now, it’ll have to wait. It’s 7:40 am and I should start the rest of my day.

There’s a viewing later, at 4 pm.

Wish me luck.
